We are dedicated to teaching not only the joy of music and music-making, but also the life-long lessons of confidence, self-esteem, concentration and sensitivity.
We strive to provide Northern Virginia with affordable violin and cello lessons for all ages and levels, starting children from age 3.
Aga Kowalsky, Violin
She holds a Master of Music degree from the Freiburg Music School, Germany, and a Degree in Music and Music Pedagogy from the Wroclaw Academy of Music, Poland.
She is a certified Suzuki violin teacher for books 1A - 4, as well as an active member of the Suzuki Association of America and SAGWA. She has studied Suzuki violin under Ronda Cole at the University of Maryland. Aga most recently completed additional teacher training in both Eurythmics for Young Children and Music Mind Games I and II.
As member of the prestigious Verbier Festival in Switzerland from 2000-2004, Aga has performed with such conductors as James Levine, Christoph von Dohnanyi, and Kurt Masur, and soloists Vadim Repin, Martha Argerich, Kennedy, and Evgeny Kissen, as well as several international tours throughout Europe, Asia, and North and South America.
Aga is also an active violinist in the area, performing with several local orchestras and chamber ensembles, including the Washington National Opera, the Harrisburg Symphony, the Alexandria Symphony, and the National Philharmonic.
Laura Tait Chang
Violinist Laura Chang was born into a musical family and began her violin studies shortly after her fourth birthday. Early teachers include Mark Bjork of the University of Minnesota, Klara Fenyo Bahcall of the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, and Lewis Rosove of the Milwaukee Symphony.
Laura received both master's and bachelor's degrees in music performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music at Johns Hopkins University, where she was a scholarship student of Martin Beaver, currently first violinist in the Tokyo String Quartet, and Pamela Frank, for whom she was a graduate assistant. As a student at Peabody, she performed in masterclasses with the Tokyo String Quartet, Erick Friedman, Paul Kantor, Sidney Harth, and Lorand Fenyves. She studied chamber music with the Peabody Trio, Earl Carlyss of the Juilliard Quartet, Maria Lambros, and Michael Kannon. While at Peabody, Laura studied violin pedagogy with Rebecca Henry.
Laura is active as a performer and teacher in metropolitan Washington, DC area. She frequently performs with the Richmond, Maryland, Alexandria, and Fairfax Symphonies, among others.
