We are dedicated to teaching not only the joy of music and music-making, but also the life-long lessons of confidence, self-esteem, concentration and sensitivity.
We strive to provide Northern Virginia with affordable violin and cello lessons for all ages and levels, starting children from age 3.
Joshua Kowalsky, Cello
Joshua is currently a member of the United States Air Force Concert Band.
Joshua graduated from the Interlochen Arts Academy with Honors in 1995. He then attended the Cleveland Institute of Music in Cleveland, OH and earned a Bachelor of Music degree in cello performance. In 2001, Joshua graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI with a Master of Music degree.
He also completed a performance Diploma at the Hochschule fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt, Germany, where he studied with Michael Sanderling.
An orchestral and solo musician, Joshua performs regularly with the USAF Band and the Harrisburg Symphony, as well as other local orchestras including the Richmond Symphony, National Philharmonic, and the Alexandria Symphony. He was a member of the prestigious Verbier Festival Orchestra in Switzerland for 5 years, where he regularly performed with leading musicians including James Levine, Kissen, and Martha Argerich. He has attended masterclasses with Frans Helmerson, Lynn Harrell, and Janos Starker, among others. As a soloist, Joshua performed with the Traverse Symphony Orchestra (MI) Orchester, as well as premiered the orchestral version of the Holocaust Cantata by Don McCoullough in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall.
